As our world becomes more polarized, it is increasingly challenging for thoughtful and balanced voices to be heard. The media – liberal or conservative – amplifies the extremes and those voices that bolster their narrative. Most no longer stick with facts. Rather “news” stories are peppered with editorialized commentary about particular individuals, groups, and traditions. All too often, this editorializing is not based on accurate historical accounts or the realities on the ground, but on the reporters’ or news outlets’ inherent biases. This is certainly the case in the reporting of India, Hinduism, and Hindus.

On December 1, we’ll delve into understanding why these distortions happen, the impact they have on our community, and what HAF is doing about it.

Join HAF’s Executive Director, Suhag Shukla, for a lively discussion with Kushal Mehra and Abhijit Iyer-Mitra.

Kushal, who runs the popular Carvaka Podcast, is known for his outspoken views on Hindutva and the West’s misunderstanding of Hinduism and India. Abhijit, a defense and international affairs analyst by background, is a frequent commentator on all things India and Hindu. Together, these two experts bring a fresh and unique perspective that is provocative, witty, and always entertaining.
