Thriving at School & College as a Hindu American with HAF & the DoE

February 28 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm EST

HAF & DoE present Thriving as a Hindu American Student

Wednesday, February 28 | 1:00 - 2:30pm EST
Online, anywhere

HAF has witnessed a nationwide rise in Hinduphobic incidents around the U.S, particularly within schools and on college campuses. Register now for a special “Know Your Rights” webinar with HAF and attorneys from the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) to discuss:

  • What you should do when you or someone you know faces Hinduphobia on campus
  • What role the U.S. Department of Education plays in safeguarding students
  • What Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is and how it protects Hindu students

The OCR stands ready to support schools, students and parents in ensuring every student’s right to learn without discrimination. During this presentation, OCR staff will discuss recent real-world investigations and resolutions of harassment complaints based on ancestry and ethnic characteristics.

All students within our school communities have the right to learn in our nation’s schools free from discrimination. OCR wants schools, students, and parents to be vigilant in protecting students’ rights under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI).

Following the presentation, we will host a live Q&A session, and we encourage you to pre-submit questions with registration. Please note: the DoE is not authorized to answer questions about hypothetical situations.
