On November 10, a terrorist attack in the Indian capital of New Delhi took the lives of 13 innocent people and injured dozens more, when a car bomb exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station. Indian security agencies made several arrests in connection with the terrorist attack and uncovered a wider network linked to Pakistan based Islamist terrorist group, Jaish-e-Mohammed and its new women’s wing Jamaat-ul-Mominaat. Reports also suggest that this incident was part of a much larger plot which unearthed 2,900 kg of explosives.
In response to the bombing HAF Managing Director Samir Kalra stated:
“As Hindu Americans, we’re deeply anguished over the lives lost in this barbaric terrorist attack, and deeply concerned for the safety of our friends, family, and other Indians in Delhi and other parts of India. We condemn terrorism in all forms and call for the perpetrators, including any state sponsors or benefactors involved, to face swift justice. If Pakistan’s military establishment and its proxy Jaish-e-Mohammed was in fact responsible for this attack, Pakistan needs to be held accountable and sanctioned by the Trump administration for being a state sponsor of terrorism.”
HAF has long advocated for the US government to take a tougher stance against Pakistan based on its track record of consistently fomenting terrorism in the region and systematically persecuting its religious minorities.
