Dussehra (duh-sheh-RAH) or Vijayadashmi (vi-juhyuh-dushuh-mee) celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over the ten-headed demon King Ravana. This also marks the end of Ramalila — a brief retelling of Rama, Sita, and Lakshman’s story, which is often in the form of dramatic retellings or dance. It also signifies the end of negativity and evil within us (vices, biases, prejudices) for a fresh new beginning. Dusshera often coincides with the end of Navaratri and Durga Puja, and serves as a reminder that good always prevails over evil.
