As the situation with the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) continues to evolve, the rights and obligations certain employees and employers are changing rapidly.
Among these changes is the passage of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which became effective April 1, 2020 (the law does not apply to any situations or incidents prior to the effective date). FFCRA allows for expansion of two major benefit provisions: Paid Sick Leave and Expanded Family and Medical Leave.
Employers are obligated to inform their employees of the new law. This Department of Labor poster details employee rights and employer obligations under FFCRA must also be shared with all employees.
