In September 2019, HAF participated in A National Summit on Religion and Education at the Religious Freedom Center of the Freedom Forum Center.

HAF Director of Education Shereen Bhalla described the event:

“This summit brought together an inter- and multi-disciplinary group of leaders in the fields of education, religious studies, social studies and English language arts to discuss past, present, and the future of K-12 religious studies education in the United States. Summit Attendees identified eight action items to improve religious studies education in the United States and the priority tasks necessary to achieve them. Opportunities for growth were identified and each attendee offered a unique perspective about the success and challenges in the field.”
